THE STORY BEHIND THE PICTURE
My work often revolves around animals in danger of instinct. Some interesting figures on the bison population : Before the arrival of settlers in America there were 30 to 60 million bison. In the late 1800s the Bison was classified as endangered and would only number between 300 and 800 heads! What havoc! Whose fault is it? The man armed with his greed, as usual. Fortunately, today there are around 500,000 heads of this animal that has passed over the edge of the abyss. We are still far from the figure at the start!
The pure white in the background of this intimate portrait brings out all the details of this young bison which despite its gentle gaze has the strength to scare you even in a car. A very shallow depth of field is once again my signature on this portrait. I love the contrast between the very blurry areas and the extremely sharp areas. Photographed about 3 meters away, this very calm young bison really let me do my job without any complications.
