It is face down in the snow, about 4 meters from these magnificent animals who accepted my presence under the icy wind of one of the coldest days of this Quebec winter that I have the chance to capture an incredible moment. Everything is there: The proximity allowing me a maximum of details. The wind creating movement in their mane. The lowest possible angle. In front of this northern sky; the pale and the dark face each other, drawn by the dramatic last rays of the day's sun...

The Petrov Defense is a well-known Russian opening where great strain is placed on the black and white horses facing each other from the start of the game. Although the 2 horses have a lot of freedom on the chessboard, little movement leads to victory. While we all regret some choices in our lifetime, we all hope that we do not regret that we misuse our freedom.
