ABOUT FINE ART PAPER

THE STORY BEHIND THE PICTURE
This image was created WITHOUT photoshop and with just one click. It's been a long time since I had in mind to feature palm trees in one of my photos. But these trees have been photographed millions of times and I wanted a different image. The opportunity came on a special day in Spain this spring.
I took this colorful and energetic photo on the north coast, in the Asturias region, during a rare natural phenomenon. The kalima is a powerful wind that brings with it the orange dust of the Sahara. Very rarely seen in the north of Spain, this one created a unique veil in the sky. It felt like being on another planet. I knew that unique lighting opened the door to some truly unique photos. So I took the opportunity. I found the prettiest palm tree in the place, then waited until the sun was perfectly placed behind it to create a strong backlight. Using a wide angle lens I was even able to exploit a palm tree behind me to dress the top of the photo with an original perspective.
