THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOGRAPHY
While I was concentrating on the creation of ''Perfection'', the centerpiece of this collection, this scene was created in front of my eyes. Two black horses that were in the lead are caught and then overtaken by a white horse at full speed.
At the time of the click, I already knew what I would name this photo. I had a hard time putting my finger on the reason why this name came to my mind so quickly... I have the impression that games or films from my childhood are responsible for it: the white horses were often associated with the good guys while black horses belonged to the bad guys. In movies, the good guys win more often than not. We grow up with this notion, but unfortunately, over the course of a lifetime we can stop believing in the victory of good to see the apparent success of those who act without scruples. Besides being a beautiful scene, if there's one thing I'd like people to remember when looking at this photo, it's that life is well done: Although sometimes those who do good can seem to lose the race... There always comes the moment when good comes out the winner.
What can I say on the technical side? This photo was taken with a fixed lens...no zoom...so the perfect timing of the distance between the horses had to line up with the perfect side angle that I would have for a hundredth of a second. Obviously I had to have the horse at the head in focus, so I changed the shot in the second before this take. Everything happens so fast in the field. No matter how much we anticipate, success often lies in adaptation. Of the many hours over several days spent with this horde, they only gave me a run in the snow 4 times. Every time this happened, chills washed over me and shot through my lens.
